Hannah and Craig's Wedding, January 2023

“Hannah and Craig's wedding started off as a true photo adventure. I wasn't sure what to expect with a wedding planned at the The Boat House in Riverhead, only a day after the local bridge had washed away by raging Auckland floodwaters...
I left Raglan super early in the morning to allow plenty of time to make it to Albany, where I would start the day with photos of the groom getting ready. On route we kept in touch as he told me he was still stuck in Warkworth, with all routes south closed! After exploring every possible option, he managed to organise two helicopters to be on stand-by to transport him, his groomsmen and parents to the wedding. Luckily, a back road opened just in time!
The bride was getting ready at the very stylish Boathouse Row. Together with her girl squad she enjoyed incredible waterfront views of the lake. It was hard to beat the vibe of this stunning property, so we ended up returning there later for bridal party and couple's photos.
The most amazing thing was that on the actual afternoon of their wedding they didn't have a drop of rain! The ever lovely Belle joined me for the most important parts of the day to capture different angles and extra snaps of the guests, as they enjoyed a fantastic, sunny day full of great moments: A beautiful and emotional ceremony and guests mingling with plenty of amazing canapés and bubbles afterwards.
The evening continued with a 3-course dinner, great speeches woven together by an entertaining MC duo and an awesome first dance and party.
I was rooting for the couple as this story unfolded. A story where love ultimately prevailed. A scenario with a level of uncertainty you don't wish any bride on her wedding day, but hopefully now a beautiful story to one day tell the grandkids. It's certainly a wedding I won't soon forget
